CALLING ALL SCHOOLS, YOUTH CLUBS & DISABILITY GROUPS!

Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running is inviting all schools, youth clubs and disability groups to get active by joining this year's Baxters River Ness 5K Fun Run on 4 October. The 5K Fun Run offers people of all ages and abilities an opportunity to be part of the north of Scotland's largest sporting event.

Participants from schools, youth clubs/organisations and disability groups throughout the Highland area will receive:
- a commemorative finishers medal;
- a fantastic Baxters goodie bag;
- a quality Baxters River Ness 5K t-shirt;
- a complimentary bowl of Baxters soup and a roll following the event.

Malcolm Sutherland of Baxters Loch Ness Marathon said: "This year is likely to see the largest entry field yet for all events in the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon, including the Baxters River Ness 5K Fun Run. This is a fantastic way for schools, clubs and other groups to add some fun and excitement into exercising and, at the same time, get involved with one of the biggest events in the north of Scotland. The finish arena for the event will see participants and spectators alike enjoying the lively festival atmosphere with entertainment by local pipe bands, live music, charity and sports retailer stands, food and drink stalls and kid's activities – plenty to keep spectators young and old amused while watching out for runners to cross the finish line."

Malcolm added: "In previous years we've had entries from a wide range of schools, groups and clubs in the Highlands, including primary schools, Brownie packs, Scouts, Bridg'it Venture, Highland Disability Sport, the Highland Rugby Club, Clachnacuddin F.C, and many more. We are keen to see entries from across the Highlands for this event and would encourage anyone who is interested to ask their group leader to contact us or to visit our website for more information."

The Baxters River Ness 5K Fun Run follows a flat circular route beginning near Bught Park, along the River Ness to finish in the same arena – Inverness's Queens Park Stadium – as Marathon and 10K participants also competing that day.
To take advantage of this exciting opportunity, team entries must be entered online by Monday 14 September 2009. Teams should contact info@lochnessmarathon.com or call 0870 127 8000 for team entry information. The event is fully wheelchair accessible.
